BLACK EYED PEAS LYRICS - "Where Is The Love?"
What's wrong with the world, mama
People livin' like they ain't got no mamas
I think the whole world addicted to the drama
Only attracted to things that'll bring you trauma
Overseas, yeah, we try to stop terrorism
But we still got terrorists here livin'
In the USA, the big CIA
The Bloods and The Crips and the KKK
But if you only have love for your own race
Then you only leave space to discriminate
And to discriminate only generates hate
And when you hate then you're bound to get irate, yeah
Madness is what you demonstrate
And that's exactly how anger works and operates
Man, you gotta have love just to set it straight
Take control of your mind and meditate
Let your soul gravitate to the love, y'all, y'all
People killin', people dyin'
Children hurt and you hear them cryin'
Can you practice what you preach
And would you turn the other cheek
Father, Father, Father help us
Send some guidance from above'
Cause people got me, got me questionin'
Where is the love (Love)
Where is the love (The love)
Where is the love (The love)
Where is the love
The love, the love
It just ain't the same, always unchanged
New days are strange, is the world insane
If love and peace is so strong
Why are there pieces of love that don't belong
Nations droppin' bombs
Chemical gasses fillin' lungs of little ones
With ongoin' sufferin' as the youth die young
So ask yourself is the lovin' really gone
So I could ask myself really what is goin' wrong
In this world that we livin' in people keep on givin'in
Makin' wrong decisions, only visions of them dividends
Not respectin' each other, deny thy brother
A war is goin' on but the reason's undercover
The truth is kept secret, it's swept under the rug
If you never know truth then you never know love
Where's the love, y'all, come on (I don't know)
Where's the truth, y'all, come on (I don't know)
Where's the love, y'all
People killin', people dyin'
Children hurt and you hear them cryin'
Can you practice what you preach
And would you turn the other cheek
Father, Father, Father help us
Send some guidance from above'
Cause people got me, got me questionin'
Where is the love (Love)
Where is the love (The love)
Where is the love (The love)
Where is the love (The love)
Where is the love (The love)
Where is the love, the love, the love?
I feel the weight of the world on my shoulder
As I'm gettin' older, y'all, people gets colder
Most of us only care about money makin'
Selfishness got us followin' our wrong direction
Wrong information always shown by the media
Negative images is the main criteria
Infecting the young minds faster than bacteria
Kids wanna act like what they see in the cinema
Yo', whatever happened to the values of humanity
Whatever happened to the fairness in equality
Instead of spreading love we're spreading animosity
Lack of understanding, leading lives away from unity
That's the reason why sometimes I'm feelin' under
That's the reason why sometimes I'm feelin' down
There's no wonder why sometimes I'm feelin' under
Gotta keep my faith alive till love is found
Now ask yourself
Where is the love?
Where is the love?
Where is the love?
Where is the love?
Father, Father, Father help us
Send some guidance from above'
Cause people got me, got me questionin'
Where is the love?

Well, Black Eyed Peas sang this a long time ago. I suddenly got reminded of this song when an incident happened to me this afternoon:

I was at the bus stop waiting for my bus. And it was pouring heavily. My feet was drenched by the time I reached the bus stop from my house. Then, there came this elderly man (no, not the DOM or LTK) with his umbrella. Most of us would glance and just would regard him as a stranger. Well, that's what I did. My bus came. He was taking the same bus as me. Well, the gap between the bus stop shelter and the bus door was probably only one foot step away and I was already prepared to get a little drenched while boarding the bus. What the elderly gentlemen did was that he opened his umbrella and offered to shelter me before he boarded the bus. I declined but he was insistent. Either how, he still opened and I made a dash. I still got wet, nonetheless. A small guesture, it might seem, but it just shows a lot.

So where is the love? It's still in us. We just need to express it.

Plans are things we set to do in the future. Some plans we look forward to and yet some we wish it would never happen. We all have plans, sometimes without being aware of it.

Was out with a couple of friends just now. It's been awhile since we went out and had some fun on our own. The last time we had such stuffs was during the last vacation. Nice just hanging out, playing pool, eating. And of course, making plans for the future. Sounds good. And I'm all excited for it. But, that's another 11 more months to go.

Well, reaching home, I'd just to be smacked with plans that are much closer, now that we're reaching the end of March, going April. Time is running out. No sense of urgency and loads of disappointment. Let's just hope things will work out positively from now on..

Ever felt like you just want to sleep and don't wake up?

Die while drowning in the shower?

Bite till you bleed? And feel the pain as some sort of satisfaction? (NO, THIS IS NOT BDSM)

Apparently, these stuffs don't happen.

But yes, it's one of those shit days that just passed. Sigh...

Yes, it's that period of the year where the exam results are out. I scored horridly this semester. Got a new grade I have never gotten before. Very disappointed with 2 modules. But there is nothing I can do about it. I've passed on the whole and it's on to year 3.

Agrotechnology & Plant Tissue Culture: C+
Applied & Molecular Microbiology: B
Basic Conversational French: A
Global Cities: B
Immunology: D+
Mathematics & Statistics II: B

GPA: 2.6339

Well, at least it's done better than my previous semester. But I'm not satisfied. Especailly for Maths.

It's been a rough day for me. Moods surged from its highest point to its lowest point.

From tired - wide awake - boredom - being interested - feeling hot - feeling tired - surprised - annoyed - coincidence - hungry - frustrated - confusion - happy, extremely happy - excitement - disappointment, majorly disappointed - worry to moodless.

It has been a moody (pun intended) day and all the moods are a result of events that are independent of one another.

Perhaps a little D.H would just put me in order. And sleep would just do the rest...

Competition. Life is full of them. It's all about the rat race. You win, you're the best. You lose, take a hike. Tie? Let's battle it out again.

Competition has both is positive and negative aspects. The positive attribute being it pushes people out of their comfort zone and causes them to work harder, to be better, bringing them to a new level of experience. To me, the negative aspects far outweighs those that are positive.

Trained since young to compete, we start on the path of primary school (kindergarten for most). Parents send kids to good schools just to prove that their kids are smarter and by doing so, compete, in a certain way, with other parents who have children of the same age group. And as if the taxing education system have not taken a toll on us, parents compare results:"Eh.. Why Ah Boy get 99 marks when his classmates all get 100 marks?". It has also been overheard from students of a certain JC that they're unhappy getting A2 for their GP despite getting straight As for the other subjects and yet claiming the exams to be of 'no kick', while their peers in the other schools are crying their hearts out because they genuinely did badly. Looking at O levels, we spend 4 years of education, to be technically correct, 2 years of education and cramming everything into one's head just for a paper that lasts 2 hours and students, with all the anxiety and nervousness just will have a blank mind upon told to start writing. Such kind of competition isn't really fair, don't you think?

Sometimes, one has gotten so competitive, it becomes an annoyance to others. Worst still, that person knows that he/she is good but they have to add fuel to the flame. There are things in this world which are really not necessary doing and not worth doing. There are other things which could be treasured and appreciated.

"The world doesn't accept failures", I once heard. Is it really true? The push to strife better has made everyone forget to stop and smell the flowers, enjoy the breeze, listen to the birds twittering in the trees.

Where humans are existent in this world, the challenge is still on. Till then, competition will be here to stay.

It's back to school today for FYP talks. And after those 3 hours, not only did those talks left me bewildered and confused, I felt that there's an added weight of stress. So much to do, so little time. And the work will just keep piling on. But that aside, it's really great to see those wonderful classmates of mine. But I'm gonna be quite seperated from those closer ones.

Over lunch, Eunice was saying that Joel and Charissa's project is called the 'Seah' project because both their surnames are Seah. Noel, whose surname is Chow, when translated (from this to that to something else) becomes Chew. So, we're doing the 'Teo-chew' project. And Eunice's + Sandy's one will be the Nee-Dee (Needy) project because I always call Eunice Nee Nees and Sandy is called Dee dee by her friends. While walking out of SIM, Sandy said I looked brighter. Like a 'yang guang nan hai'. Which totally didn't make sense. Until she said it was because I'm wearing berms and the whole issue of the colour of my leg went into conversation. Sigh.

And never in my life have I visited the library like it's my home. The NP, Jurong East, Woodlands, Choa Chu Kang. It's tiring physically to travel all over and a torture on my shoulders to bear the weight of the books. But what to do.. They're all for FYP. The sickening thing that robbed me of my vacation. I'M AN UNHAPPY FYP-ER!
